Terms & Conditions
The basis of every hire.
These terms set out the basis on which DANIELAIMTERNATIONAL LIMITED, trading as DaniVanLife (referred to as “we” or “the owner”), hires its camper van to a customer (referred to as “you” or “the hirer”). They form the contract between us from the moment a booking is confirmed and a deposit is received. A separate hire agreement is also signed in person at pickup; if anything in that agreement conflicts with this page, the signed document takes priority.
1. Driver eligibility
The named driver and any additional driver must be aged 25 or over, and aged 75 or under at the start of the hire. Each driver must hold a full UK or EU driving licence, held for at least two years, with no more than six penalty points and no disqualifications, drink-driving or careless-driving convictions in the last five years. The original licence and a recent proof of address are checked at pickup. Cover cannot be issued otherwise.
2. Booking and deposit
A booking is confirmed when you receive written confirmation from us and a refundable security deposit has cleared. The security deposit is held against the insurance excess and against any damage, lost equipment, missing fuel or cleaning charges that fall to the hirer at the end of the hire. Where the van is returned in the same condition it left in, the deposit is refunded in full within seven working days of the return.
3. Insurance
Comprehensive motor insurance is included for each named driver, subject to the eligibility above. The policy carries an excess that is payable by the hirer in the event of an at-fault claim, theft, glass damage, tyre damage, or damage where no third party is identified. An optional damage waiver is available to reduce the excess; details are confirmed in writing before pickup. The insurance does not cover personal belongings, contents of the van, or losses caused by use of the wrong fuel.
4. Use of the van
The van is supplied for private leisure use only within the United Kingdom. Travel outside the UK requires written permission in advance and may carry an additional cost for European cover. The van must not be used to carry more passengers than there are fitted seatbelts; for off-road driving; for towing; for racing, rallies, or driving lessons; for hire or reward; or to carry hazardous, illegal, or heavily-soiling loads. Smoking inside the van is not permitted.
5. Mileage
A fair daily mileage allowance is included, pooled across the hire. Long-distance trips to Scotland, Wales or the North Coast 500 are welcome and an appropriate allowance is agreed at the time of booking. Mileage in excess of the agreed allowance is charged at a per-mile rate confirmed in writing before pickup.
6. Pickup and return
Pickup and return are from 18 Ena St, Hull HU3 2TG, at the times agreed in writing. Returns later than the agreed time may be charged a further day's hire. The van is supplied with a full tank of diesel and full LPG (where applicable) and is expected to be returned the same way; the cost of the missing fuel and a refuelling fee are otherwise deducted from the deposit. The van is supplied clean and is expected to be returned in a reasonable state; an extra cleaning charge applies where it is not.
7. Damage, accidents and breakdown
In the event of an accident, theft or attempted theft, you must contact us as soon as it is safe to do so, and report the incident to the police where required. Do not admit liability at the scene. A 24-hour breakdown service is included; the contact number is in the van and on the dashboard. Where damage is caused by negligence or by a breach of these terms (for example, hitting a height restriction, using the wrong fuel, or driving off-road), the cost of repair, recovery and any loss of hire while the van is off the road is the responsibility of the hirer.
8. Cancellation
If you need to cancel, please tell us as early as you can. Cancellations more than thirty days before the start of the hire are refunded in full, less any non-refundable third party fees that have already been paid on your behalf. Cancellations between fifteen and thirty days before are refunded at fifty per cent. Cancellations within fourteen days are not refundable, although where the dates can be rebooked we will refund the equivalent value. Where the owner needs to cancel a hire (for example, mechanical issue or accident damage), all sums paid are refunded in full and no further liability is accepted.
9. Pets
Well-behaved dogs are welcome at no extra charge. Please bring a blanket for the bed. An extra cleaning charge may be deducted from the deposit if the van is returned with significant pet hair, mud or damage caused by the dog.
10. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for any matter for which it would be unlawful to limit liability. Subject to that, the owner is not liable for indirect or consequential losses (for example, missed travel connections, lost accommodation costs, or loss of holiday enjoyment) arising from a fault with the van or a delay outside the owner's reasonable control.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Any dispute arising from a hire is subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
12. Questions
Anything unclear, or anything that needs to be agreed in writing before booking, is best raised by WhatsApp or email.
